Water Water Everywhere and not a drop to drink! - August 18th, 2012
Look in any paper, any TV or radio broadcast and you will see or here about problems with water. It is an ongoing problem! what is in our water? The list will surprise you!!
Everything from chemical runoff from farmer’s fields, industrial waste, to air pollution, septic fields, to drugs. Water is not safe any more, even rain is contaminated, what can we do? Where can we go? The chemicals in water could be as many as 50,000 as found in Lake Superior, only the largest fresh water source on the planet. Even bottled water has problems, the bottles can leach chemicals into the water, are the bottles cleaned properly? Cities and towns put yet another chemical into water to make it safe for us “CHLORINE” and that can cause other problems.
When we look for answers to this problem we are besieged with products, and services to provide us with water safe for consumption, some are good! Some not! Some only do part of the job! The intent of this article is to inform and point you into the right direction to “WATER QUALITY”. There are two kinds of water that we use, life source and utility water. Life source water enters the body, utility water, flushes toilets and washes cars.
Lets talk life source.
“LIFE SOURCE WATER”
This is water that we consume through drink, coffee, tea, juice, ice cubes, washing our vegetables, brushing our teeth and cooking. This water should be as pure as possible and free from all contaminates. There is three ways to make water safe with absolute surety.
One is by boiling, the cure of the 17th century: bring the water to a rolling boil for 5 minutes and you will effectively kill any bacteria or parasite, you have also concentrated any chemicals and inorganic matter in a lesser amount of water. Boiled water generally does not taste very good but it is safe, unless the chemicals are harmful. You cannot use an electric kettle to do this!
The second method is a duplication of Mother Nature and her Hydrologic Cycle – Distillation: Distillation is the process of boiling the water to vapor which leaves behind all the contaminates, chemicals, etc. and then cools the vapor back to water that is pure and safe. Distilled water when processed in this manner is the best for you’re your body, mind and soul. Be aware of distilled water stored in bottles and plastic containers as this water is very clean and pure and the bottles may not be. Some plastics harbor chemicals and bacteria’s and will subsequently taint that pure distilled water. The best thing is to process your own life source water with your own distiller. Distillers will vary in price, operation and design; ensure it is made of surgical grade stainless steel. Operating cost, is low as is maintenance of a properly designed distiller and overall, they are the most cost effective method of providing you and your family with pure life source water for years. Lastly is Ultra Violet Light: Again a duplication of Mother Nature however concentrated and directed. U/V will kill all bacteria and parasites in water and is generally used at point of entry and on a water source suspected of contamination to ensure that all water is safe (not pure SAFE) To ensure the u/v light can do it’s job pre-filtration is required and this will require proper testing prior to ensure the filter media required. This water is safe but it is recommended that micro filtration be used prior to consumption to further clean the water and take out the dead bacteria. (Recommendation: Wyckomar U/V Inc. Danamark)
The Final Word
Filters alone will not remove all bacteria and parasites they are only as good as the first time used as water channels through them the filtration level is reduced. Some may make the water quality worse after time, pushing through contaminates removed previously.
